I Don't Like That Mean Old Nurse!

At 6:31 pm this evening Campbell will celebrate her 9 week birthday. She is changing so much with each day that passes and is beginning to develop such a cute little personality. She loves to smile at Mommy and Daddy, as well as anyone who speaks friendly to her right now. We had her 2-month doctor visit on Tuesday, the 24th and she has some fantastic new stats. Her weight is now up to a chunky 11 lbs 4 oz, putting her in the 75th percentile. Her length is an astounding 23 in, which means she has grown 3 in since birth, also putting her in the 75th percentile. Finally, her head circumference is 39 in, which places her in the 50th percentile. The doctor says she is growing right on track an looks perfect, to which I gave a huge smile and cheer. Along with all of these wonderful stats of Campbell's growth, we had to face the dreaded immunizations. She received 5 shots (3 in one leg and 2 in the other) and an oral immunization. When she got her first shot, she did not even flinch, but when that second shot came around, you would have thought the world was coming to an end. She was very happy to get her last shot and get wrapped up in her blanket in Daddy's arms. I could only imagine that she was thinking, "I don't like that mean old nurse!"

On another, more smelly note, Campbell is now in the habit of changing her outfit at least once during the day, but not because she is bored with the one she is wearing. She has developed the skill of pooping out the top of the front and back of her diaper, which Mommy is thrilled about. She seems to hold it and let it all out at once and those little size 1 diapers are just not big enough or strong enough to keep the poop under wraps. The great thing about this is that Campbell seems to think it is very funny when she does this and always has a smile on her face after it happens. Needless to say, we have invested in some oxy-clean and will definitely never go anywhere without a couple of wardrobe changes available. In addition the wardrobe changes, we go through at least 3 bibs a day, due to her spit up and newly developed habit of slobbering. Even though we have these interesting habits to deal with, she is still the most beautiful and precious little girl in the world, and we love her so much!

Campbell is beginning to enjoy tummy time a bit more and is getting much stronger. She can now lift her shoulders, chest and head off the floor and look straight ahead for about 30 seconds before falling back down. It is so exciting to watch her develop these new skills and see her change. With this new strength, she is now enjoying her bouncy chair, because she can control her head a bit more. Don't get me wrong, she still loves her swing, but the bouncy chair allows her to be where we are, and she loves to look around and take in her surroundings. The only bad thing about that, is that she fights sleep sometimes because she does not want to miss a thing. She is, however, sleeping between 5 and 9 hours a night. We still do not have a set schedule at night, but we are developing a bedtime routine that we hope to have nailed down in the next week or two.

It is simply amazing how quickly babies change and develop and it is so exciting to be a part of that process.
